Kansas City_November 1, 2012_ Kansas City Board of Trade HRW wheat futures and options volume and open interest increased during the month of October when compared to last month.

HRW wheat futures volume increased by 14.2 percent during the month of October over September, with 331,019 contracts traded this month compared to 289,956 traded last month. HRW wheat options traded 5,670 contracts this month versus 2,982 contracts last month, showing an increase of 90.1 percent.

HRW wheat futures open interest climbed 1 percent during the month of October, with 164,691 contracts outstanding at the end of the month versus 163,213 contracts at the end of September. Open interest is 5 percent higher than at the end of October 2011.

HRW wheat options open interest increased 32.6 percent during the month of October, with 17,234 contracts outstanding at the end of the month versus 12,996 contracts at the end of September.

Total exchange volume increased by 14.9 percent for the month of October versus September, while total exchange open interest increased by 3.2 percent.
